The Basics
What is your service area?
We exclusively service the city of Peterborough, within the city limits. To ensure we can remain reliable and attentive to our local clients, we are not able to take on dogs or cats outside the city limits at this time. Staying within the city allows us to spend less time driving and more time focused on the pets in our care.
Can I book a specific time for my dog’s walk or cat visit?
To accommodate travel times and the unpredictable nature of working with animals, we operate using arrival windows rather than specific appointments. This ensures no pet’s care is rushed. You can choose from the following blocks:

Morning: 9:00 am – 11:00 am or 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Mid-Day: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Afternoon: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Weekend Availability: On Saturdays and Sundays, we offer an 11:00 am – 2:00 pm window exclusively for cat visits. Dog walks on weekends are reserved only for clients currently booked for an overnight pet sit.
What are your holiday rates and availability?
To ensure we can provide attentive care while balancing family time, a holiday surcharge applies to bookings on statutory holidays. Our availability for major holidays (Easter, Thanksgiving, and summer long weekends, etc.) fills up very quickly, so we recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks in advance. We are closed on Christmas Day.
Safety & Health
What is a Meet & Greet, and why is it mandatory?
A Meet & Greet is a vital part of our safety protocol. It allows us to ensure your pet is comfortable with us and that we have all the 'hard questions' answered before care begins.

Our Preference: We prefer to meet in person so we can see your pet’s environment and routine firsthand.

Virtual Option: We understand life is busy. If an in-person meeting isn't possible, we are happy to schedule a phone or video call to go over care instructions and home-related details.

Who you meet: You will meet with Laurie, the owner of Adventure Tails, to establish your care plan. Please note that while Laurie manages the onboarding and safety vetting, our professional team of walkers and sitters—who are fully trained to our high standards—will be the ones providing the daily care and companionship for your pet.
What is your policy on vaccinations and parasites?
Dogs must be up-to-date on Rabies vaccination, and flea and tick prevention. If your dog will be boarding with Laurie, a Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccination is also required.
Communication & Logistics
Will updates be provided while away?
Absolutely. We know how important it is to stay connected. You’ll receive an e-journal after each service containing photos and updates of your pup’s adventures or cat's pet sit, giving you complete peace of mind that they are safe, happy, and well-loved while you’re gone. We even include a GPS map of your dog's walking route!
What is your cancellation policy?
​We require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes to dog walks and daytime pet visits and drop-ins.
Services cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full, as we reserve time slots specifically for your pet, and may turn away other families.
We require 7 days notice to cancel Boarding and overnight pet sits in your home. Less than 7 days and greater than 48 hours notice will be charged 50% of the total fee. Less than 48 hours will be charged in full.
How do you keep my credit card information safe?
Your security is our top priority. We use Precise Petcare software, which is fully PCI DSS compliant:

Encrypted: Your card is encrypted immediately; we only see the last 4 digits.
