Is This the Right Fit for Your Dog?
To maintain a peaceful and safe environment, my home boarding is best suited for dogs that meet the following criteria:

Social & Calm: Dogs must be 2 years of age or older, well-socialized, and fully comfortable around other dogs.

Household Manners: Dogs must be fully house-trained and able to relax quietly for short periods of independence (crated or loose) without destructive behavior.

Health & Safety: All guests must be up-to-date on vaccinations (including Rabies and Bordetella) and be current on flea/tick prevention.
For the safety of the household, I cannot accept dogs that display:

Aggression toward people or other animals.

Severe separation anxiety or persistent vocalizing.

Destructive behavior or marking indoors.
​Limited Availability for Attentive Care
To maintain the calm, structured environment that makes dogs feel comfortable and secure, boarding availability is intentionally limited.

Hi, I’m Laurie, owner of Adventure Tails.
Since 2018, I’ve been caring for Peterborough’s pets with a focus on reliability, safety, and genuine compassion.
Our in-home dog boarding takes place in my family home with my resident Labrador. Visiting dogs simply become part of our daily routine — relaxing indoors, enjoying time outside, and settling in for a peaceful night upstairs.
We keep boarding intentionally limited so every dog receives calm, attentive care in a safe, structured environment.
My goal is simple: to provide a place where dogs feel comfortable, secure, and genuinely cared for while their families are away.

Will my dog be boarded with dogs from other households?
To maintain a calm home environment, we keep boarding very limited. We typically care for no more than two client households at a time, and only when dogs are a safe and comfortable match.
When more than one dog is staying with us, introductions are done carefully and dogs are supervised closely. Many dogs enjoy the companionship of another friendly dog during their stay.
Our priority is always a peaceful, well-managed environment where every dog feels safe and relaxed.
How many dogs stay in your home at once?
We accept a maximum of two client households at a time, in addition to our resident Labrador. This allows us to maintain the calm, attentive care that makes our home boarding feel comfortable and safe for visiting dogs.
Can we do a Meet & Greet before I book?
Absolutely. A Meet & Greet is a mandatory part of my safety protocol. It allows us to ensure your dog is comfortable in my home and gets along well with my resident Labrador before we finalize any boarding dates.
What should I pack for my dog’s stay?
Please bring enough of your dog’s regular food for their entire stay (plus a few days for any unexpected travel delays), along with any necessary medications. Please also bring a leash, and harness or head collar if your dog uses one. I also encourage you to bring a familiar bed or a blanket that smells like home. I provide bowls, toys, and plenty of treats! Please advise if your dog has food allergies I should be aware of (treats can contain allergens).
How do you handle drop-offs and pick-ups?
Drop-offs and pick-ups are scheduled by appointment to ensure I am home to welcome your dog. Please note that an extended pickup fee applies to dogs picked up after 4:00 pm on their final day to account for the additional care provided.
What happens if my dog gets sick or there is an emergency?
In the unlikely event of a medical issue, I will contact you immediately. I keep your emergency contact and vet information on file and am located just minutes from local 24-hour emergency veterinary care. Your dog’s safety is always my first priority.
What is your cancellation policy?
To maintain my boutique level of care and limited availability, I require 7 days' notice for boarding cancellations.
7+ Days Notice: No charge.
Less than 7 Days Notice: A cancellation fee of 50% of the total booking applies.
Because I reserve this space specifically for your dog and may turn away other families, no refunds are provided for early returns or late drop-offs. Of course, if you have a true emergency, please reach out so we can discuss it.
