Boutique In-Home Dog Boarding
A calm, loving home environment where your dog is treated like family — not kenneled.
Your dog stays in our Peterborough home with a fully fenced yard, cozy sleeping space, and attentive care in a peaceful household environment.

Meet Your Host
Hi, I’m Laurie, owner of Adventure Tails.
Since 2018, I’ve been caring for Peterborough’s pets with a focus on reliability, safety, and genuine compassion.
Our in-home dog boarding takes place in my family home with my resident Labrador. Visiting dogs simply become part of our daily routine — relaxing indoors, enjoying time outside, and settling in for a peaceful night upstairs.
We keep boarding intentionally limited so every dog receives calm, attentive care in a safe, structured environment.
My goal is simple: to provide a place where dogs feel comfortable, secure, and genuinely cared for while their families are away.

A Calm, Home-Based Alternative to Kennels
Leaving your dog behind can be difficult. Our goal is to provide a place where they feel comfortable, safe, and genuinely cared for.
Adventure Tails offers limited in-home dog boarding in a structured family environment.
Instead of a busy kennel setting, your dog stays in our home where they become part of the daily rhythm of family life.
During their stay, dogs enjoy:
• A fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor time
• Comfortable indoor living spaces
• Daily companionship and supervision
• A quiet sleeping space upstairs
Dogs sleep on the third floor where I sleep, along with my own Labrador, so they are never left alone overnight.
Our goal is simple: a calm, safe stay that feels like home.
A Family Home Environment
Boarding takes place in a quiet family household with:
• Our resident 9-year-old Labrador
• My pre-teen child, who is gentle and very comfortable around dogs
Visiting dogs become part of our daily routine, enjoying companionship, relaxed time indoors, and outdoor time in the yard.
Because this is a real family home, there may be short periods when we are out for school, errands, walks, or activities. Dogs must be comfortable resting independently either crated or loose without destructive behaviour.
This environment works best for dogs who enjoy a calm household and are comfortable around both children and other dogs.
Is This the Right Fit for Your Dog?
To maintain a peaceful and safe environment, our home boarding is best suited for:
• Dogs 2 years of age or older
• Calm, well-socialized dogs
• Dogs who are fully house trained
• Dogs who are comfortable around other dogs
• Dogs who can relax either crated or loose without destructive behaviour
Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies and Bordetella (kennel cough).
For the safety of all pets in our care, we cannot accept dogs who display:
• Aggression
• Severe anxiety
• Destructive behaviour
Limited Availability
Boarding availability is intentionally limited to ensure each dog receives attentive care.
• Maximum of two guest dogs at a time
• Offered only when we are available
• Weekday stays are typically prioritized
This approach allows us to maintain the calm, structured environment that makes dogs feel comfortable and secure.

Have Questions?
We’ve Got You Covered.
Will my dog be boarded with dogs from other households?
To maintain a calm home environment, we keep boarding very limited. We typically care for no more than two client households at a time, and only when dogs are a safe and comfortable match.
When more than one dog is staying with us, introductions are done carefully and dogs are supervised closely. Many dogs enjoy the companionship of another friendly dog during their stay.
Our priority is always a peaceful, well-managed environment where every dog feels safe and relaxed.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice for walk cancellations or schedule changes.
Less than 24 hours’ notice results in the full service charge, as that time has been reserved specifically for your pet.
Walks can be easily cancelled or modified through your secure client portal, allowing you to manage your schedule and request changes when needed.
Do you offer recurring and flexible scheduling options?
Yes. You may book recurring weekly services or flexible visits as needed.
Recurring walks are recommended to guarantee your dog’s spot and maintain routine.
Can I request a specific time?
We operate within arrival windows:
• 9–11am
• 11am–2pm
• 2–5pm
This allows us to maintain reliable routes and consistent service.
Puppies (8–16 weeks) receive a one-hour window.
How many dogs stay in your home at once?
We accept a maximum of two client households at a time, in addition to our resident Labrador. This allows us to maintain the calm, attentive care that makes our home boarding feel comfortable and safe for visiting dogs.
How do you access and secure my home?
We use lockboxes, keyless entry systems, or a client-provided hide-a-key or magnetic key box.
A backup key must always remain at your property in case of battery failure or lock malfunction.
Access instructions are handled with the utmost confidentiality, and we treat every home with the same respect and care we would expect for our own.
How do you select your dog walkers?
Every member of the Adventure Tails team is carefully selected and must pass a police background check before working with clients.
Our walkers are also fully bonded and insured, and are chosen for their reliability, professionalism, and genuine love of animals. We look for people who treat every pet with patience, kindness, and the same level of care they would give their own.
How do I book and pay for a walk?
Booking is handled through our secure online client portal, where you can request services, manage your schedule, and pay electronically.
We prefer to meet you and your pet beforehand, but if timing doesn’t allow, we’ll schedule a phone call to review routines, safety details, and expectations before your first visit.
